The difference between the Rasi Charts
of Indian System comprising of Nakshatras (starts with Ashwini Star) and the
Western System based on Seasonal set up is noted as Ayanamsa.
The
Astrological System adopted by Indians is called the " Nirayana (or)
Sidereal " System, While Western Astro-analysis is called " Sayana
(or) Tropical " system.
Sayana means inclusive of Ayanamsa
while Nirayana means exclusive of Ayanamsa.
The date of Coincidence of the Tropical
& Sidereal Zodiacs was found to be 285 A.D on 22-March at 21H:27M(IST) as
Zero Ayanamsa by Great Astro-Mathematician Lahiri.[According to Calender
Reforms Committee].
