Transition - Movement of Planets

Transits primarily involve developments in the life circumstances outside the individual’s control. It is essential to study the method of daily movement of planets before going through their effects.

Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are Fast moving while Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are Slow moving planets. Their transits can be ascertained by consulting the almanac (Panchangam) regularly.

Daily movement of Planets as below:
Sun
1 degree
Moon
13to15degrees
Mars
30 to 45 minutes
Mercury
65 to 100 minutes
Venus
62 to 82 minutes
Jupiter
5 to 15 minutes
Saturn
2 minutes
Rahu & Ketu
3 minutes

At these speeds, Sun takes 30 days / one month to move from one sign to other; Moon takes approximately 2 ¼  days to move from one sign to other; as in case of  Jupiter takes one year; Rahu & Ketu takes 18 months (anti-clockwise) and Saturn takes 2 ½ years.

However, transition of Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu & Ketu has given special importance since they stay in one zodiac sign much longer, with the feeling good (or) bad periods in life will remain long time.

Benefic aspects of Planets in various bhavas from Moon natal sign in transition:
Sun

Moon

Mercury

Mars

Saturn
3, 6, 7, 11
Rahu

Time limit for planets in giving the results before the entry into next sign:
Sun will start giving the results 5 days before entering the next sign. Likewise Mercury gives the results of the next sign 7 days before stepping into it. Venus gives the results before 7 days, Moon before 24 ghadiyas, Rahu before 3 months, Saturn before 6 months and Jupiter before 2 months in advance.

Benefic results of Planets during the transit:
Sun and Mars give good results in the beginning of their transit in a sign; Venus & Jupiter give good result in the middle of their transit; Moon and Saturn give results at the End of their transit. Mercury gives complete results of the sign as soon as it enters.

If a transiting planet is in a favorable Rasi from the natal Moon, its capacity to grow and create success may be obstructed by another transiting planet. Similarly, a planet may be in an unfavorable Rasi from the natal Moon but have its depressing quality overcome by another transiting planet. This is known as Vedha (obstruction).
There is always a Vedha position for any planet transiting a favorable Rasi from the natal Moon, though there is not always a Vedha position for a planet transiting an unfavorable Rasi.

The Sun, for example, is seen to be favorable in the 3rd from the natal Moon, the Vedha to the 3rd is the 9th, and therefore, if a planet is in the 9th, the favorable effects of Sun are obstructed. The Sun is unfavorable in the 4th from the Moon, but if there is a planet in the 10th the unfavorable effects are obstructed.

Note: Always transiting Planets aspects Planets in Natal chart but not vice versa.
